Senior Installer/Tower Climber

ZipLink Internet is seeking reliable and motivated Installers/Tower Climbers to join our team as 1099 independent contractors. In this role, you will install and maintain wireless internet equipment and infrastructure, helping to connect residential and commercial customers to reliable internet service.

While prior tower climbing certification is not required, contractors must be willing to attend company-provided training and certification programs.

Installation and Maintenance

  • Install and configure customer premises equipment (CPE) such as antennas, routers, and modems.
  • Conduct site surveys to determine optimal antenna placement for line-of-sight connections.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with equipment, network connectivity, and internet performance.
  • Perform basic maintenance and adjustments to wireless systems as needed.

Tower Climbing and Equipment Work

  • Climb communication towers to install, align, and maintain antennas and wireless access points.
  • Conduct tower inspections and report any safety or structural concerns.
  • Assist with the installation and alignment of microwave backhaul links.

Customer Interaction

  • Provide a professional and courteous experience to customers during installations and service calls.
  • Explain equipment functionality and answer customer questions.

Safety and Compliance

  • Follow all safety protocols, including fall protection and PPE requirements.
  • Attend company-sponsored tower climbing and rescue training.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and FCC standards.

Documentation

  • Accurately document installation details, configurations, and service notes.
  • Submit tower inspections and maintenance logs promptly.
  • Maintain records and job tickets.
  • Communicate with consultants to ensure procedures are followed.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in wireless internet installation, networking, or a similar technical field is required.
  • Familiarity with basic networking concepts (e.g., IP configuration, signal alignment) is preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb towers up to 500 feet and work at heights for extended periods.
  • Physical stamina to lift up to 50 lbs and perform outdoor work in various weather conditions.

Certifications and Training

  • No prior tower climbing certification is required.
  • Must be willing to attend company-provided certification and training programs.

Other Attributes

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to use own vehicle to perform job duties.
  • Must be open to occassionally working nights and weekends to address outages.
  • This is a 1099 independent contractor position.
  • Compensation is per job or hourly, based on experience and scope of work.
  • Contractors are responsible for their own taxes and insurance.
  • Necessary climbing and safety certifications will be provided and paid for by ZipLink Internet.
